@steven-cavagnolo I've never had to do this type of repair on my 36, and I may be way off base here, but it sounds like a problem with the SBC. The crankshaft goes through the timing cover and the seal in timing cover can wear a groove in the crankshaft resulting in a leak. The solution is a simple stainless sleeve that slides over the crankshaft and covers up the groove. I don't know if this is the same type of problem, but just a thought.

Ken,
Thanks for your note. I am not sure what the SBC is. The crankshaft does not engage the seal in the timing cover. It contacts the harmonic balancer which is keyed, and is pressed on the crankshaft engaging the seal. In any event, I polished the contacting surface of the harmonic balancer, and the neoprene seal appears to be working.
Thanks, Steve
Steve, Thanks. Ill see what I can do with that info.
