I have a 50 Fleetline Deluxe 2 door. Did they come with the assist ropes on the back of the front seat? If they did, Did the escutcheons for this car fit multiple years, models and GM brands? Lastly, does anyone have a source for replacement ropes? Thank you
@john-biondo Welcome to the site John. I don't have your answers but someone should be along soon who can.

The 1950 convertible I have owned since the mid 1980’s does not have robe cords. The upholstery in it was original prior to my restoration so John’s question got me wondering. According to the 1950 specs on the GM Heritage site, robe cords are listed for De Luxe series two and four door sedans, but not for Sport Coupe’s, Bel Air’s or convertibles. Sorry I can’t help with the escutcheons or cords. Mike
Well I found all the parts for the seat assistance ropes Thanks to Andy in Ohio. Now I need a source for replacement ropes. The ropes are rubber covered in fabric. After 75 years they become brittle and break. My next step is to find replacements, or material to fabricate the ropes. I’m sure someone has solved this problem already. Looking for suggestions…Thanks
John, On my 50 Styline the robe cord was assembled from a chain threaded through a rubber tube which was inturn jacketed with a fabric cover. The rubber was crumbling and the cover soiled. I stripped the assembly down to the bare chain then replaced the rubber with a piece of neoprene tubing. I then had my upholstery shop make a cover from a piece of material left over from the headliner installation. The finished product is not an exact match but it sure looks good. If I were to do it over again I I believe I would try to find a piece of windlacing material for the robe cord jacket. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply..that’s the kind of information I was looking for..
