Was there insulation or sound deadening material on the inside of the sheet metal body? If yes, was it between the sheet metal and the wood frame to help prevent vibration noise and squeaks? Thanks for your reply.

@jollyroger-2 You don't mention a year. My 38 had a tar paper type substance on the inside of the body panels. It was not between the metal and wood.

Hi Roger

It's been a long time since I had the back seat out of my '29 sedan (which exposes the wood frame and inside of the rear body panels).

But, I'm pretty sure there was nothing there in the way of insulation of any kind.

The body panels are nailed directly to the wood frame.

When squeaks cropped up, they usually occurred between wood parts, and the Fisher Body manual explained how to fix it.

And it often involved friction tape in some way.
