I am trying to find what month my 1948 FleetmasterStation Wagon “Woody”was built. I’ve decoded the vin number for the assembly plant and model number, but the “0” for the month eludes me. I could guess the “0” to mean January, but I want to be sure. The first four of the vin number is “1FK0”.
There should be a number stamped after the 0. I don't think the numbering method changed for 1948 but I've been wrong before.

The next number is a “3”
03 will be March in serial numbers after 1931.

Actually... 🙂
Starting in 1946 and continuing in 1948 "letters" were used to designate the month of build, not numbers.
So the fourth symbol should be a letter.
But... that means January should be represented by an A, and December by an L, and O would not be used.
Are you sure the fourth symbol isn't an over stamped C or G?

@tiny I'm so accustomed to being proven wrong that it no longer bothers me.

Ahhh!
When I bought my '46 the title had an "S" instead of a "5" that was actually on the title.
Can you get a picture of the actual serial number tag for us?

Excellent point. This could be a typo mistake from long ago.

Is it possible that the VIN plate is a replacement and issued matching the typo on a past title?

That's what it looks like to me. That looks like a repop aluminum plate that's been pop riveted on, although some years ago. The repop plate I put on my 38 is very similar and looks nothing, material wise, like the OEM plate. Someone who owns an original 48 with a known OEM data plate will need to verify.
