Recently I purchased a Napa Gold Oil Filter 1010 from their online store and it is a lot smaller than what I removed from my 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Station Wagon “Woodie” (photo below). Does anyone know of a replacement oil filter?
If you are talking about diameter and all the other dimensions are correct it may very well be correct. I know AC reduced the size of some of the cannister filters and they worked fine. What is the number on the filter you took out? Is the height and inside diameter the same as the 1010?

The Wix 51006 fits my Fram canisters.

Hi John
The Wix 51006 Tiny uses in his Fram canister is the same one I use in my AC canister, so it's a pretty good bet it will work for you too.
And, it comes with 2 different sized rubber rings, one of which will probably be the right size for your canister. 🙂
If you prefer to go to NAPA, I believe they sell the same filter (I think it's even made by Wix) as a NapaGold 1006.

The Wix 51010 / Napa 1010 is used in the Inner-Line aluminum canister that bolts directly to the block.
- I bought both the NAPA Gold 1010 filter and the WIX 51006 filter. Here are the photos of them side by side with a tape measure. The NAPA Gold 1010 filter is smaller. The WIX 51006 is larger and comes with 2 gaskets, one narrow and one wide.
John, It would be helpful if we knew what filter housing/manufacturer was on your wagon? Maybe a picture? Mike
@buckaroo01-2-2-2-2 The diameter of the filter is not critical. It may make a little difference on the life (capacity) of the filter-The larger the pleats of filter media the more debris it can hold. The most important spec is the fit of the filter at the sealing ends of the filter to allow only filtered oil back to the engine.

Here’s a photo of the oil filter canister
@buckaroo01-2-2-2-2 Maybe this will help. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/inner-line-bypass-oil-filter-216-235-261-chevy-6.1246132/

John, My 50 Convertible has the same Inner-Line canister as shown in your picture. I use the Wix 51010 element and it fits fine however the cover gasket supplied with the 51010 is too small. I’ve been lucky and able to replace the element without damaging the gasket but understand one of the gaskets supplied with the 51006 is the correct size should you need one. Mike
I found this when I did a google search “WIX 51010 vs WIX 51006” the results show the difference. Thanks for all the good information!!!
Sounds like you might need a Wix 51010, could be a Wix 51006, that's the biggest size. here are the sizes for the three most common. Wix makes filters for Napa, just leave off the 5 to cross reference.
MFG Number OD ID Height
WIX 51006 4.094 in 0.553 5.007 in
WIX 51010 3.718 in 0.553 in 4.375 in
WIX 51080 3.367 in 0.703 in 4.218 in
