I have the dash out of my 29 and the gauges are still wired in to the car. I have the bezels off to be cleaned up. I am missing the glass on the headlight switch/temp gauge. Was there a glass on this gauge? If so how does the headlight switch come off to install the glass. I am thinking if the glass need s a hole in it i will just use a piece of lexan. I will be rewiring this car soon as there are a lot of cracked and exposed wires under the dash. It also as if someone has done some repair work. I see several splices in different areas.

How does the headlight switch knob come off?

Thanks

Hello Stovebolt 6,

I do not know if the 1929 (I) lighting switch and case (362501) has full glass or just glass over heat indicator part only. It does list glass (857233). As for lighting switch handle (827722), I do not know how it attaches to its switch. There is listed with the handle/knob, round slotted head bolt (no. 6-32x7/16")(113901) and lock washer, lighting switch handle screw (802730). These items may be internal within the case, do not know. Find this information at: oldonlinechevymanualsproject. Look for 1929-1932 Chevrolet Master Parts Price List for Six Cylinder Models. Index-Electric Page 100, Lighting Page 110. Items and descriptions are between pages 109 and 110. 1929-I, 1930-U, 1931-Ind, 1932-C. 1929 owners may provide more info.
