I believe that I now have the correct fender brackets for my 1940 KC pickup.

Now, my question is what other hardware to I need to find (or make)?

I found the 1st photo on the web, labeled as '39-'40 (I am not sure of that label's accuracy).

My question is about the smaller parts in the photo. The Master Parts Catalog, group 8.142 calls for "reinforcement plate", part #350772, REINFORCEMENT, support, lower". Are these the rectangular pieces shown in the photo? I assume that if the reinforcement plate is just a piece of flat stock, I could make one myself. (Any reason not to?)

Since the holes in the brackets, the reinforcement plates and the radiator shell sheet metal are all square, is there a special square-shank bolt that holds these together?

Anything else I should know?

I should point out that the truck is still pretty much as I received it...held together by a few small bolts, some wire and some string (as is visible in the 2nd photo). Now that I have the fender brackets I hope to start test fitting things together to make sure it will all work eventually.

Thanks!

Nick,

Square holes tell you that carriage bolts are to be used.

Thanks Mike! The requirement for carriage bolts SHOULD have been obvious...
