As I have an axel and leaf springs up front in my 38 sedan, is the suspension the same as a 38 truck? I know there are kits for tube shocks for the trucks and hoping it will work on my sedan.
Thanks
Mike
It can most likely be made to work whether it's a direct bolt in or not. I used '39 tube shock mounts to convert my 38 Master. Since the frame had no mount points for the upper mounts we had to drill and reinforce the holes. The photos below are of the mounts I bought, sent to me by the seller, before removing them, then pictures of them installed on my car, taken during the engine re-install following rebuild.

Thanks Tiny, I remember your mod. Seems so simple
From 1926 thru 1954, All straight axle Chevys were 24" between the springs except the 1937 - 1940 straight axle passenger cars which are 26". I haven't weighed the half ton VS passenger axles to see if there is any difference in weight. The Ton & half are 24" but weigh more than the half ton. If you look at web page home.znet.com/p1937/Limo.htm . it shows my limousine that has 24" axles and 26" wide springs. GM made adapters so it would fit. The rear drive axle is 1.225" diameter instead of 1.155" of the passenger car for the anticipated heavier loads.
