@tiny My user name was RalphL. I was looking in my profile to see how to change from my full name here on the new forum, but I couldn't figure it out.

Ralph, you have two ways to access your account. One is to hover over My Profile at the top of the page then click on Account. The other is to click the down arrow below your user name to the left of the page, then click the "gear" icon. The changes can be made there. Great job finding your data plate. I sure wish people would've not painted over them.

Exactly my thoughts too. That's why I bought a reproduction plate and had it stamped to match - except the font is different. I can see the original info under the paint, but I'm not going to chance removing the paint.

I'm at the DMV office right now. The clerk looking at the car also thought all the ones were eyes (i) at first glance! At first he wanted to use my engine serial number until I showed him some of the literature I printed indicating the first character of the serial number corresponding to the production factory - in my case a 1 for Flint. He looked all over the car, to include door jambs and the trunk, searching for another plate to confirm the car serial number. He's somewhere in the back room right now discussing it with his supervisor to determine what they will do.

My serial number is now finally corrected as the VIN on my FL title and registration. Just received notification through Hagerty that the FL DMV confirmed it today. Corrected title is in the mail.

When I was at the SWFL Regional DMV last Thu, the reason it was taking so long is they did a thorough history search going back to when I bought the car in 2003 from IN. They discovered the IN title had the serial number listed as starting with a 1. However, when I titled the car in VA, they changed the first character to an upper case i for some reason. Since they found a title that initially had it as a 1, they approved the correction.

Thanks to Hagerty for discovering the discrepency. It had been wrong for the last 21 years! I'm glad it's finally resolved.
