Hello everyone!
I'm hoping to get some insight on how to go about replacing the ignition switch on my 1927 Chevy Capital truck. I haven't been able to find any exact replicas of the ignition switch that is currently in the vehicle. The key just wiggles around in there freely and I believe the best course of action is to replace the whole unit. I attached some pictures of the front and back of the switch. If anyone has any ideas on where I should go from here please let me know!
Thank you
Henry
My '25 touring has a similar looking switch. The '27, and '28s I have seen take a switch that is connected to the steering column. Truck models were essentially a year behind the cars so you may have better luck finding the correct switch by searching for one from a '26. The key for my '25 is an odd looking thing, are you sure you have the right key?
I don't believe early trucks had a key switch, rather just a rotating dial. I have seen many trucks this way in pictures and in person and that's what mine has.
But I have read more than once that trucks were built from left over car parts so who knows.
I can get a picture of mine if it interests you or maybe you would rather have a keyed switch.
