Hi All,

I recently feel in love with the look of the 50's COEs.

I've been looking at pricing of complete trucks, restored trucks and projects and man are those prices all over the place and high.

There's one that just came up on FB as a running project-kind of a bastard. Basically just the cab is original and has been installed on a Chevy long bed dually pickup frame with another 350 engine and automatic transmission. The seller does have title and video of the truck running.

It's listed at $8k. Being this is a total Frankenstein truck is it really worth anything after doing some work on it and what should a reasonable offer be?

Or should i just wait for a better more expensive option?

Paul

Big trucks are a mixed bag, parts are hard to come by and usually expensive when you do find them.  Also, most trucks have had a hard life so bring them back can get expensive as well.  Putting a vintage cab on modern chassis requires some engineering, not impossible, but challenging.  I have always tried to stay with projects that were almost done and just required some finessing to finish them.  Let the previous owner take take monetary hit.

@pheff Paul, I have a 1950 COE for sale in Central Missouri. It is also a project. This one has original driveline, 158 inch wheelbase, and a very long dumping flatbed. The price is a bit higher than the truck you mention, but if you prefer an original truck, it might fit the bill.
