I'm trying to get used to the new website. If the moderators want to move this post or rename it please feel free to do so. I don't see a forum for members' cars.

I recently added 2 new (old) Chevys to our small collection. My brother has several old Chevys, most don't run. He is getting older and in poor health. He called me and asked if I wanted his 1955 BelAir hardtop. It was wrecked in the front (hood, grill, bumper, radiator  etc.) and has been sitting for more than 10 years. I said, "of course" and made the 600 mile trip with a trailer with the intent to bring home a very restorable car. When I got to his barn I found 7 cars, all with flat tires and undriveable.  The '55 was in the back blocked in by another undriveable car, a smoker, 2 lawnmowers and stacks of boxes. After realizing it was going to take a day just to get to the car, my brother said, "just take the '66 and come back for the '55." The '66 is a Corvette convertible that was running when it was put in the barn 5 years ago. It also had 4 flat tires but was in front of the garage door. After blowing up the tires we rolled the car out and winched it onto the trailer for the trip home. I'm going back this week to get the '55. I'll keep you posted on the progress of putting them back on the road.

It's good and bad. Sad that he's not doing well and elated he thinks enough of me to trust me with his cars.

The Vette needs lots of TLC (and money). I'll get 'er done because the car is worth the effort. It won't be cheap or fast. It needs brakes, wiring,  tires, some interior fixes. Don't know about the engine yet. It's not original. But the car could be worth twice or three times what it will take to fix it.

Well, I went back last weekend and got the '55 BelAir. I inflated the tires and jacked it up and put it on wheel dollies. We pushed it over in front of the door and then took the dollies out. We rolled it outside and winched it onto a trailer. It is now safe and sound in my "car barn".

Wrecked in the front needs lots of TLC.

What I can see that is a very fixable car.
