@ole-olson I thought I was a great googler and eBay searcher. How did I miss this one. I bought it! Thanks. I got mine off yesterday and both hose connection pipers are really in bad shape, I think it might have been repairable, but the one on eBay is excellent…thanks for the lead.

Me too. That crusty one I posted was all I could find. I would recommend keeping and repairing (if possible) the old one. You never know when you may need it.

@tiny I cleaned the old one up with the intent of fixing it. The inlet and outlet are brazed on so, I feel confident my metal worker friend could cut these off and weld or braze new ones on. The case of mine is really in good shape and the inners are actually shiny. Here’s a few photos of before and after my cleanup:
I hadn’t painted it yet until my friend tells me what he can do with it.
@jerry-berry Should be easily fixable. Now that I have a part number to search I see those are pretty rare. You maybe should have bought a lotto ticket the same time you scored the unit off of ebay......

@tiny Lol, tiny…I think It was predestined for me to have this car. This and the 41 make me literally laugh out loud whenever I look at them.. Can’t wait to get the 54 out on the road.
I sent the Bendix power steering unit off to Harmon to rebuild. I could have done it myself, but thought it better to have the experts put it in to shape which might speed the process of getting it on the road. I’m excited.
Waiting on the Powerglide cooling device to come in and to get it installed. May be here on Saturday.
On Saturday I got the power steering cooler from eBay and it's in great shape. The neck is pitted and was headed to the same condition as my original. I feel like that kind of corrosion happened because the old school coolant didn't have corrosive inhibitor to prevent corrosion. Anyway, it will go on tomorrow, I think. I'm going to use Rust-oleum rust inhibiting paint which should make it last the resto of my lifetime...lol. I'm anxious to get it on the road. The power brake booster is at the Harmon shop being rebuilt. I hope it works out perfectly.
Glad to hear it was a good part. 👍
I would be inclined though to use a "rust converter" that converts red rust (Fe2O4) into black rust (Fe3O4), which is similar to gun bluing, first.
Black rust is much more stable and isn't as liable to continue to propagate under a coat of paint.
I've used rust converters in the past, and good ones have worked well for me.
Just a suggestion that may help prolong the life of the cooler. 🙂

@ole-olson That's what I meant to say but couldn't remember what it's formal name was. I'm not sure, but I think you can color paint it after applying the convertor stuff, right?
