Hello new guy here,

rebuilding my 1930 Chevrolet Coach and now is the time to figure out the electro loc and distributor. does anybody have any exploded view of the hookup of the electro loc cable to distributor?? I believe my electro loc is in good working order, tested continuity through it and it operates as i think it should. just need to figure out how to hook it up inside the distributor. got the car with cable dangling and rigged up distributor. was wanting to put the system back to as original as possible. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Joe!

try searching on the old forums as it was posted on 5/8/2008. I printed it out but it is rather long and there was no illustration. Perhaps Chip has something he can send that might include an illustration.

Here is an illustration that might help you.

While you wait for Chips detailed information, also do a search on the old forum, there is a lot of information. Old VCCA forum

I was missing most of the insulators but was able find useable alternatives at my Ace hardware. Some required a little work to fit. I used a plastic soda bottle to make the inside insulator(8 in the above picture).

The illustrations in the Standard Electricians Manual are the best I am aware. The most critical insulators are the "barrel" one that slides over the end threaded stud. It fits into the enlarged hole in the distributor. The other is an fiber type that keeps the spring on the point set from grounding against the distributor body. The connector on the moveable point arm has a slot that is sandwiched between a slightly dished rectangular washer and similar shaped threaded retainer. If those are missing many use a dished flat washer and hex nut. If you have problems with the attachment let me know. chevychip@yahoo.com is my email address.

Also have this article from G&D in november 1973.

I haven`t done the repair myself, so don`t know if it`s correct in every detail.

I have rebuild over 100 Electrolocs and have spare parts. If the key lock cylinder is operational I can rebuild it. Too many have suffered from expansion of the internal die-cast (aka pot metal, white metal) parts. So far even boiling in peanut oil has not freed them.
