Went out to take a spin today but could not get the engine to run about a fast idle.
It started fine with a little choking, spark advanced and throttle lever set it idle, but as I increase the rpm, it starts to die . Releasing the throttle keeps it going at idle speed.
It acts like it is flooding out.
Does the carb have a high speed jet that could be fouled?
I am a little reluctant to dive in the mystical magical thing without a bit of guidance or at least a suggestion or two.
Thanks
Tim
The multi-jet (high speed jet) is in the threaded portion of the center where the nut screws in to hold the brass bowl. It is possible for varnish from fuel evaporation and oxidation of the gasoline to plug off the center hole. If that is the case then just breaking it out with a soft tool or wire should get the car going. There are two other jets that screw into the side of the center. The holes in them are much smaller so it will take a thin soft wire to open them is varnished shut.
Let us know if that doesn't work so we can suggest other possible remedy.

Chip, Just got back in after a long over due ride. Cleaned out the jets, buttoned it up, and away we went. Many thanks.

Modern gas forms varnishes and gums faster that in the past. It doesn't take much to plug off a jet or hole that will keep a carburetor from functioning well. Some carburetor cleaners can dissolve or loosen the gunk so the carburetor will work as intended.
