Well I finally got to drive my '36 Chevy for about 60 miles today. I thought I had tightened up the steering pretty well many months ago, but now there seems to be considerable play in the wheel. I followed a thread some months back where one of members had a similar problem. I have a Motor Repair Manual that walks the reader through the adjustments, however in the first adjustment they say to turn the steering wheel mast housing to the right until the wheel is tighter.
Well, is that clockwise or counter clockwise when sighting down the shaft? evidently if you go too far to the left, you can disengage the gears requiring dismantling the entire box.
there was a reference to a service bulletin that was shared by other members, Does anyone have it?
Thanks,
Steve
Steven, I have a GMC service bulletin on the steering box adjustment, send me a private message for my email address
