It is a little shy of 17"     I think it is late 40's to early 50's.

From what I can tell from the photo and your measurement of 17", I would venture to say the rods you have are from a 50-53 commercial, utility, or from a 53-54 commercial, utility. see the 1929-1954 "Chevrolet Master Parts Catalog" section 3.431 "ROD, Accelerator Pedal to Lever" The 50-53 measures 17-1/4" and the 53-54 measures 17-3/16" overall length.

@bruce-bugay Bruce, Since we corresponded about your accelerator rods, I was going through a box of stuff I had put together for 1950 Chevy passenger cars. Among the stuff is a rod like yours. It has small remnants of a tag and I am assuming that the tag was complete when I placed the rod in the box. Mice had been in the box, thus no more tag. I hope this helps.
