Has anybody understood exactly how to make this adjustment that t is shown in the shop manual for the linkage and the 1950–52 powerglide cars? They changed this measurement from 3/64 to 3/32 of an inch at the end of 1952 because of the problem getting the shift lever to go back up into the park position, which is always been a problem on my car. Now that I’ve swapped out the steering column I’d like to make sure that this is adjusted properly. I look at the picture. It looks like the 6 inch scale that they show on the picture is measuring on the inside of the control shaft support, which is attached to the column to the notch in the transmission control rod swivel. I’m having some problems getting this all put back together, but it seems like you would want to put enough tension on the spring by pushing up on the control rod swivel until there is a gap on the inside of the bracket.
