Hello,

I have a 1957 Chevy truck 235 with 848 heads in my 1951 Fleetline. I just recently took the ballast resister off and added an internally ballast resisted coil. I also added an electronic fan it’s hot down here in Miami. Well I have recently started having issues with the car shutting off after long drives due to an over heating coil. Everything is brand new points condenser ect. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site. Someone who has more knowledge than me will be along soon but I have an idea. When problems occur after a change, it's usually the "change" that is the culprit. Go back to the stock coil/resister set-up and see if that fixes the issue.

I would start with a new coil, or like Tiny said go back to what you took off. New parts these days are sometimes hard to get good quality.

@matt-swadener Matt, you could try putting the ballast resister back in the circuit and see what happens.
