I helped a friend remove the 235 engine and manual transmission from his 210 convertible. I found it way more difficult than I recall from several years ago. Is it possible that the convertible frame is more robust in the u joint area? I found it extremely difficult to split the u joint, don't recall it being that way when I replaced the transmission in a 53 2 door sedan.
The convertible frame is indeed more robust with a X member at the U-joint area. Corvette has the same type of frame because of the fiberglass body.
