looking to find the dash paint color. Was it the same as the moldings around the windows or was it color keyed to the leather on the seats . My moldings are a burgundy color and were original paint. The dash was a different red and I am not sure if it was repainted as it matched the repainted exterior. Original exterior body paint code is 455/ shadow and thistle two tone gray. I will be repainting it red tomatch the color it was when I purchased it. Somebody I live with wants it that way.

In the absence of a formula the best way to determine original color is to look at inconspicuous places (where two panels meet, bracing rods attach, accessories mount, etc.) for remnants of the original color.

@tiny Well the body was glass bead blasted inside and out. After discussing it with the painter I have decided to have the dash painted the same as all the interior moldings.

I think I have found the answer to my question. Yesterday as I was digging out parts to bring to the paint shop I looked at the seats from the 51. The leather trim under the two sets of seat covers is actually burgundy giving me confidence that the dash should match.
