Clutch chatter/shudder

I have a 1948 Fleetline that was totally restored.  The transmission was completely rebuilt, new casing with all gears, bearings and shafts replaced. The flywheel was skimmed and the clutch plate and pressure plate were refurbished.  I have installed a new pilot shaft bushing in the rear of the crankshaft. The ball on the torque tube was adjusted according to the manual and the bushings and seal in the torque tube were replaced.  I still have clutch chatter/shudder.  What I have not checked is whether the axis of the crankshaft and gearbox input shaft are concentric.  I have also not checked that the clutch housing is parallel to the flywheel.    I have also tried other flywheels, pressure plates and clutch plates. I have not changed the clutch housing (bell housing). Is there anything else I should check that can possibly cause this annoying chatter/shudder?

Last year I had a clutch shudder problem too on my 1927 Chevy one ton truck.

I needed to fix the u-joint (worn trunnions and yokes) and while I was in that area, I lightly sanded the glaze off of the flywheel clutch surface and the pressure plate, replaced the clutch, replaced the pressure plate springs, and replaced the ball bearing in the throw out bearing.

When I put it all back together, the truck had a bad clutch shudder and a squealing noise. I didn't think it sounded catastrophic, so I drove it a little. After around 60 miles of driving, the clutch shudder and strange noises went away and all was well.

I suspect that the clutch had to 'wear in' a little, but since it was working well again, I left well enough alone and didn't tear it apart again.

I have been driving mine more than a 1000 mile without any improvement, in fact, I think it is getting worse.  I will at some stage have to remove the gearbox and clutch housing again.  I will replace the bell housing with one that has been skimmed.  I will then check again with a dial gauge that the flywheel is not wobbling. After that I will check that the bell housing is parallel to the flywheel.  Then I will check that the crankshaft and input shaft is concentric and re-install the gearbox.  The universal joint is new but I will check the adjustment on the ball and collar.  My Fleetmaster' clutch is smooth and I can really not understand why the Fleetline, with all the new parts, are shuddering.  All the engine and gearbox mountings as well as bushings on the rear axle are new.
