What size oil filter does my 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Station Wagon use?

That depends on what canister you have. You can pull your filter element and get the brand & part number off of it or take it to the parts store with you.

Hi John

As Tiny said, it depends.

Oil filters were mostly a dealer installed accessory, and there were a lot of different filter unit brands available at the time.

If you could post a good picture of yours showing any decals or markings on it, maybe we can narrow it down for you ahead of a trip to the parts store.

When I changed mine the number was on the side of the filter.  NAPA was able to match it to a NAPA Gold filter.  These are made by WIX.  Unfortunately I did not copy down the number before placing the new one in the car.  As others have said this was a dealer installed option and more than one company made the filter kits for these cars.  Mine is not the Fram one and does not take the same filter and the Fram kits did.
