Deal all,

I need to buy a water pump for a Chevrolet 1938 passenger car. I am overseas and need to buy it from sellers located in the USA or Europe. I have tariffs over price of goods + freight. Thus, I need to find a pump with prices that I can afford. I located a water pump that has the part number of #598309, but seller says that it fits GMC trucks. I read herein that #598309 is a bearing type of pump that replaces previous ones. Can I buy it? Assistance is appreciated.

Hi Celso

It looks to me like it "should" fit...

but I'm a little hesitant to say it definitely "will" fit.

The seller lists the part number as 598309, but that is probably actually the body casting number as listed in master parts books.

The actual GM part number will be 598308 for the entire pump assembly as an exchange item as per below.

Tiny will probably be able to verify this.

I can't help with the part number. The Filling Station (ad at the top of the page) has both rebuilt pumps for sale and a rebuilding service if you want to send yours in. I understand you're not in the US so shipping time would be an issue. I would recommend giving them a call to see if they would ship to you.

@celso-costa

Keep in mind though that although The Filling Station has 1938 pumps for sale outright, it is on an exchange basis and they want an old rebuildable bearing style pump in return.
