When I brought this truck home, it ran fine. However, soon thereafter it started occasionally flooding. I discovered the float was incorrect, larger than correct was rubbing/sticking on inside of bowl. Replaced float, that cured the flooding, but now it wont idle. Discovered the little jet setting sideways on bottom of standpipe housing had no gasket. I need to correct that. I also noted, and here is my question, of the two little jets, the one with the larger hole was on the idle side.....is that correct? One other question, I have found three different specs for the float level. Can anyone tell me the correct one? I suspect the one in the service bulletins would be the correct (don't remember right at the moment what that is, i will need to look it up again).
Thanks in advance
lou
Well, I thought the fellow that had worked on this carb prior to me had got them backwards, but, as far as I can tell, he was correct. From what I could find, the main well jet is #69, (smaller hole) and the auxiliary well jet is #59 (larger hole). While I cannot actually read the size stamped on the jets, this is enough information for me to determine which jet goes where
@lou, although I cannot tell you about the jets, three years ago I had some problems with Justin's fuel system, so I rebuilt the RAKX-0 carb with a kit from the Filling Station and also refurbished my vacuum tank.
Here's info about that adventure: https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/458708/fuel-problems-investigation-and-fixes.html
Let us know what your ultimate fixes are.

The correct float level is 31/64". That is the distance with the carburetor upside down between the float and the machined ring around the body where the brass bowl mounts (without the gasket in place). The two small jets have different size threads is so it is obvious which one is in each location. I have rebuilt hundreds of Carter RAKX-0 carburetors.

Chip, Dean, thanks for the input, that's a big help. the Donald Duck orange juice can (vac fuel pump) was rebuilt by Chip and working just fine! I didn't notice the difference in threads on the jets, that will be a big help, as will surfing through Deans previous posts on rebuilding the carb.
Thanks, again, Lou
