I would like to verify chain of ownership on a couple of my cars. I know that I am the fourth owner of my Corvair but would like to be able to prove that to potential buyers. What is the best online site to do this? I tried one site but there was a problem with the VIN. They wanted a 17 digit number and the VIN on my car only has 8 digits.

As far as I know, there is no comprehensive way to research the prior ownership of a vehicle. Each state has its own rules and with privacy laws in place, I would say you have a difficult task ahead of you. Good luck with your search.
