I am upgrading my 1950 deluxe from the original 216 to a 1962 vintage 235. The crank arm pivot shaft location is about 3" further back on the newer engine verses the original 216. I am sure this is something others have come up-against, and I am seeking advice on a cure from those that have been there before. Is there a way to shorten the existing accelerator shaft? A different crank arm? Perhaps a commercial fix on the market? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Problem solved. The original accelerator shaft is made in two pieces joined with a crimped in place sleeve. By squeezing the sleeve in a vise I was able to remove the lower portion of the shaft, modify it, and reinstall it. Now it works like a champ.
