Recently placed online ad got response from retiredcarlover@gmail.com. he has the parts I need and has provided photos. He just seems odd, but appears knowledgeable. Has anyone purchased from him? Or is he a scam artist?
He's a scammer in Nigeria. You're smart to be suspicious. Google his email. He's praying on more folks than just you. When in doubt demand images taken from more angles and/or information only someone in actual possession of the item would be able to provide. Ask the seller if you can have a friend in that town pick up the items and pay cash on pick up. If the answer is No or there's no response it's likely a scam. ALWAYS use a protected payment method so you can get your money back if it's a scam. Don't let the desire for the parts outweigh being smart about it. If a "seller" balks at using a protected method of payment and/or providing the images/information you want, there's a very good chance he's a scammer.
