Hello all, I am in search of buckaroo01. I don’t know if he is a VCCA member or was just a member of the old forum. Was trying to purchase some wheels from him just as we transitioned to the new site. If anyone knows the individuals real name I would be greatly appreciate it. On the old site I was henrys37.
It looks like you still can use PM (Private message) on the old forum, so try to send him a PM there, and if you are lucky, he will see it.

Thanks again, I saw that but I think I’ll stick to my real name for now. I have noticed another missing member, one that was a staple on the old site. Gene Schneider aka Chev Nut. The man is a world of knowledge.

I've been in contact with Gene. I gave him a step by step on how to register to the new site. Hope to see him soon.

I'm starting to get the feeling that a lot of frequent contributors at the old site will not be making the switch. I can't say I blame them. Why did we need a new site?

This was my first login, and it wouldn't take my username and password. It was a pain to redo all of that. Don't they know if we like the looks of a 90 year old car we aren't really into new fangled websites! Ha!
And now I notice it doesn't have my username I've always had and says I have two posts? Color me disgruntled...

You can set your user name to anything you wish. There are two ways I know of to do it. One, hover your pointer over the My Profile button at the top then click on Account. Second, to the left of your name is a down arrow, click it then click the gear icon. Both ways take you to your Account where you can make any modifications you like. You're showing three posts so the ability to edit your account should be unlocked. If not let Peter know so he can look in to it. FYI it gets better the more you use it. FYI #2, our post count from the other site didn't carry over sadly. Peter is looking in to it to see if there's a way to migrate counts over but it's probably fairly far down on the priority list.

The old site software is not supported and has not been for some time. You might remember all of the recent outages when parts of it broke. It hasn't been updated for four years and no updates are planned. Eventually it will break and not be fixable. We rip the bandaid off now while it's still working and there for reference or we wait until it's just gone and we have nothing. The board decided now was the best option. I sincerely hope the reluctant members put their feelings aside and try to make it work. The new site is different but not necessarily worse. In many ways it's better. It's growing on me as I discover how it works.

My two cents. We’ve been told that the old site was unsupported and could break down at any time. From experience I know that can be true on all technologies. So we have to stay out in front. No one likes change, but it is inevitable. We get married, have kids, move from where we grew up. Some on our old cars change the paint color, from generator to alternator, 6v to 12 volt, bias to radial tires and the list goes on and on. I understand some of our members are hesitant but they managed to go from and I don’t know how it all started but maybe a news letter to the magazine to the old website and I’m sure they can make the leap to the new site. Hey, we’re Chevy enthusiasts, we overcome, why would this be any different. Again, my two cents.
I have been a member of Chatter since 2001 and during this time Bill Barker (original webmaster) had to migrate the system a couple of times for similar reasons as this migration occurred. There may well have been some members that didnt migrate then I dont know but we seem to have survived until now and I would guess will for a good few more.
