Thanks for responding Jerry, my vehicles have not been started since November but I intend to in the next week or so and will report back. It should be a good test to see if the 48 with the glass bowl filter starts quicker than the others as it has in the past. Even so, I usually do not have to prime them but some do crank longer than others to get gas to the carburetor. All are 6 volt with proper battery cables.
My two cents: Before putting my 50 away in the garage, I pull the choke out all the way and quickly switch off the ignition. Leaving the choke out, the car always starts on the first revolution no matter how long it sits between uses. I suspect the rich fuel/air mixture is trapped in the cylinders and acts like a primer on start-up. I never tried the lug nuts or bleeding air from the tires, but then again, I never need to hook-up jumper wires either.
