Peter and the VCCA officers and board seem to be perfectly fine with the fact that fewer than 1/2 of the participants in the old forum have made the move to here. Gene and his mountain of knowledge are gone. Chip, formerly Chipper, is an infrequent contributor. The list goes on and on.

The classified format is stupid and cumbersome. The new site has made life easier for someone and that is all he cares about.

@35mike Unfortunately the new VCCA site and particularly the  Chat forum is not high on the list of priorities for the officers of this club. Also the percentage of VCCA members that participate on the chat forum is in my estimation quite low. While there are many technical questions asked on the Chat forum the technical advisors do not review or participate on chat. There are lots of "features and benefits" available on the new VCCA  site but some of us older or technically challenged members have little use of them. Perhaps that will change when there are more members of the younger generations who can not function without modern technology .

Steve, I am a tech advisor and try to get on every day and see if there something I can contribute to.  I had lots of help in the past with members, including 35Mike, who has been a big help.  I like to think that i am somewhat paying it forward.  The other truck sites that i go to, The Stovebolt and the Old GMC are having similar issues with less participation, so maybe a sign of the times??

@dunfire + Your contributions are certainly appreciated . It is the newer members such as yourself who are willing to come forward and participate that keep the club alive and headed in the the right direction.

@steve-d  and Patrick.

If it was not for Tiny, this forum would be dead by now. Maybe that's what they want.

Unfortunately I have seen this same thing since the rise of Facebook and YouTube for all the forums I visit regardless of what they are for and if they change their interface or not.  The next generation is no longer looking at forums they are making a post for help on Facebook or looking for a video on YouTube.  Forums just are not their thing.  Unfortunately Facebook does not offer a way to search a history of topics for how to information like a forum does.  YouTube relies on someone already having made a video about your topic.  Jayhawker and some others have good videos about our cars but there is not near the content there for our time period of vehicles as there is for modern vehicles.  My kids first go to is read the shop manual (that is due to allot experience and time working with them, it was not originally the way they wanted to do things).  Second is to pull out a phone and look for a video and search the internet.  They then ask if I can post on the VCCA for it.  I remember when the only option was a manual or a forum but the days are different and there is not as much traffic from the younger generation coming to forums in general.  Hope I am wrong about forums and the traffic they receive.

I work in IT and unfortunately for security reasons we live in a world of evolve and upgrade or stay with what you have and get hacked and have issues.  I do not know the reasons that the old forum could not be upgraded to a current version but I am sure there was one.  Change is hard and we were all on a old system that we were comfortable with but a change was needed if the underlying software was outdated.
