Thanks to Peter Garipey and his staff for updating the website.  So far things are going pretty smooth!  As the National Judging Records Chair I want to let everyone who does not have an email address or account to go to your membership portal and copy down your new VCCA email address that Peter has set up for ALL members. Yes, the majority of our members already have a personal email. For those who do not have or use email Peter has assigned you a VCCA.org email address.

I'm going to stick my neck out here but it makes it difficult for us Tech Advisors and Committee Chairs to have to conduct business when you don't have a computer or email address.  We want you to go out there and get yourself a laptop or desktop or, at least a smartphone and not a landline. The days of return phone calls on landlines, mailing documents and writing checks can be a thing of the past if you take that step. We will be able to assist you so much better.  So, there is now an email address for you.  Go to your membership profile and you will see the assigned address. Give it a try, you won't be sorry! Thanks.  Steve Scott #12609

@steven-scott I'm not sure what you're referring to. I have an email address and have for decades. You're going to have to be more specific about what you need, want us to do. At this point I have no clue.

Please check the revised post at the top. I apologize if you were confused.  I guess there has been no official notice to the membership regarding a VCCA.org email address.  Go to your membership profile and take a look.  Have a good week all.

For clarification, I think what Steve is saying to go to your "Account" which is listed under your "Profile" button at the top of the page. Your "Profile" doesn't show an email address, at least mine doesn't. It appears, at lease in my case, that your email is unchanged if you already had an email listed.

Steven,

I guess you realize that you are on a WEBSITE, suggesting that we get a computer, laptop or smartphone and a e-mail address. I'm going out on a limb here and predicting that anyone without one or more of these things, will not be seeing your message here.

Agreed. Unnecessary in my opinion. Everyone who wants an email address already has one. There are much larger issues with the site that need addressed first.

@tiny Yes Tiny, you are correct. There are quite a few members with the "vcca.org" address.  I have asked Peter if these are truly usable email addresses. Still haven't heard.  I also notice that judging of vehicles is nowhere to be found.  Am I missing something?  There is no forum for a large part of our club.  Judging is a way to accomplish one of the goals of the VCCA, the preservation and restoration of Chevrolet.

To clarify:

VCCA is NOT giving @VCCA emails to members.

Because the new site requires members to have an email address, and many members do NOT have an email address (approx 1,500 of our 6,000 members), I've assigned members without an email address the following: member number and @vcca.org  (example: 12345@vcca.org) so they can log onto this website.

Hope that clarifies things.

Peter, thank you for clarifying the email issue.  Wow, 1,500 members with no email addresses. I think this is an issue to find a solution to?  Maybe by providing email services within the website this might encourage those members to use the vcca.org addresses to communicate better?

I can't imagine that many people not having an email. An email address is one of the first things one establishes when they develop an on-line presence. There are a lot of folks who don't want their email in the public domain because they don't want to deal with spam. I have two, one I let friends have and one for sites that require an email but I rarely visit that email. I treat it as a throw away email, where spam goes to die. I could very well be wrong but I imagine most of those without a listed email address didn't put it in their profile/account because it wasn't necessary on the old site.
