Gilbert & Barker Visible Gas Pump
I have lived this 1920s era visible gas pump on eBay. It is item number 57756568309. Here is a link to the listing:
ITEM: Gilbert & Barker (GILBARCO) Model T-178 10-gallon Visible Gas Pump, Serial # 46754. This pump has been in my family for over 50 years and was on my uncle’s farm in western Virginia to deliver fuel to the farm vehicles. It was replaced by an electric pump in the 1970s but never removed. It was passed to me 20 years ago with the intent of me restoring it. I disconnected it, disassembled the visible section for transportation, stored it all away in dry, climate-controlled storage, and have not touched it since. Too many other projects got in the way. It’s time for this pump to move on to someone who will restore it and either sell it onward or display it in a place that does it justice.
CONDITION: This pump is complete except for hose, delivery nozzle, and metering flags. The pump mechanism is stuck. The shell is in good condition with some rust and pitting, and one rust-through area along the base. It is free from significant dents or damage. All tags are included as are the undamaged glass cylinder, the lighted top and the globe (which is a later reproduction in plastic). The pump sat unused and exposed to the weather for a number of years, but is surprisingly solid and will make a very nice restoration.
LOCATION AND DELIVERY: The pump is located in Asheville, NC. It will need to be picked up. I will gladly assist with loading.
