Acquired in 1986, intended to become a daily driver, then nearly parted-out, this car received the requisite “X-frame Chevy” rust repair, Ember Red paint job, Black seat covers and carpet, and mechanical TLC it needed. The theme has been “mostly stock” except for raised-white letter radial tires. 2025 will be its 36th summer of cruising, and 45K miles since its return to the road. It’s easy to drive with 327 cid, 250 horsepower engine, Powerglide transmission, PB & PS. The smiles-per-mile is enjoyable, and many people at local shows tell me they knew of someone in their youth who owned a ’64 Chevrolet, which is not surprising given a million-and-a-half were built.
