I purchased this truck in late February 2024 as a project with many missing pieces, minimally held together with a few screws, bolts and some string! It was not to far into the project that I found out it is a Frankentruck – the cab is 1940, the bed is ’37-’39, and the chassis is a ’41-’46.
I bought it from a fellow who took it as part trade on a truck he had redone and who had limited knowledge of what had been done to the truck. It was obviously a project that had been started, but was far from complete. The engine looks to be freshly overhauled or rebuilt, but that is yet to be confirmed. (Dates on some of the brake parts indicate that a previous owner had replaced them 30+ years ago, but never gotten as far as adding brake fluid.
My plan is to take it one step at a time and make a driver out of it.
In my youth I built a hot rod Model A with the engine out of my brother’s Corvette. That was 55+ years ago.
This time, the Stovebolt Six is just fine.
