1965 Corvair Corsa Convertible
As you likely know, this was the first year for this model. The original Corvairs were a flat six air cooled motor with 2 carburetors. The Corsa was a sportier model that had been reengineered for 4 carbs (2 primary and 2 secondary) and a sportier dash and instrumentation. This car is a 4 speed on the floor manual transmission.
All the Corvairs had 13-inch wheels, but I have upgraded my wheels to 15 inch black spoke American Racing mag wheels. The newer larger wheels fit perfectly without any modifications to the car. I have also installed an electric fuel pump because the original mechanical pumps were unreliable.
The car has 75k on the odometer and rides like a dream thanks to 4-wheel independent suspension. It also has a dealer installed walnut grained sport steering wheel. I have saved the original factory steering wheel and the four original 13-inch wheels and hubcaps. All the dash instruments appear to function.
The paint was redone quite a few years ago and is beautifully done. The top is tan in color. All the Corvair convertibles were manual tops (not electric or hydraulic) .I believe that the interior is original and in great condition. The tires were all replaced a few years ago and have less than a thousand miles on them. The spare tire is still the original 13 inch wheel and is still mounted in the engine compartment. I did have the original spare tire wheel powder coated (looks a lot nicer that simply black paint). The car also has the original scissor jack and lug wrench.
I have owned the car for close to ten years and it has only been rained on once during that period. Always garage kept. The body is in great shape and there is no rust. I have always only used non-ethanol gas.
Fantastic, authentic, great-driving Corvair Corsa.
