I have been reading up on my 38 Master project. I understand that the 216 has an oil slinger, pre-dating the rear main seal. How effective is that design at keeping the oil in?

I have just bought a 1931 Accessory Brochure off Ebay. The seller photographed an original 1931 Genuine Accessory brochure which was missing the staples and had red and black ink spots on it, and the pictures inside were clear and on whitish paper.
