Getting ready to install carb, fuel pump and wiring for my '31 Coach. 1.For fuel pump (I have a rebuilt one from one of the suppliers)does it need any lube before setting on gasket and into opening? 2.What type of gasket is recommended for carb to intake? 3.Finally, have new wiring harness from FS, and while they have it coded very well so things go to right places, is there any preferred place to start, or just lay it roughly in place and start connecting?

You can put a drop of oil in the pin that the arm rotates on but it is really not necessary as it will quickly get oiled from engine oil splash.
A moderately thick paper gasket is normally used between the carburetor and intake manifold.
I start by basically running all the wires toward their final destination. Then run the wire through the clamps on the inside of the fire wall. Take the instrument panel loose and attach the wires to the back of the instruments, electrolock, etc. Also attach the small harness to starter and coil at that time and run it through the firewall. Then put the instrument panel back in place. Adjust the clamps paying attention to how the harness fits next to the frame/floor board. Finally hook up the lights, dimmer switch, gas tank, horn. Install clamps on the frame rails and cross members, put back toe board and you are done.

I'm going to follow Chippers instructions also. Of course the Battery will be disconnected during the install. After all the work is complete I will check for current draw or a short by looking closely when hooking up the Battery Terminal for even the slightest Arc caused by current flow.

Thanks for wiring sequence advice Chipper and other advice as well. By the way, what type gasket for fuel pump, same as for Carb? I found a couple of 1/16" hard fiber (or waxed cardstock, quite brittle) ones in parts box for these locations, would those have been original?
