Hi CN!
My page lists the relevant numbers here:
http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/chevytalk/GMhistory/cast.htmlAs to Canadian numnbers, it is very confusing! By 1936 McKinnon Industries Ltd had started doing the in-house castings for GM of Canada as against buying them in from Flint, and also using Walker Metal Products Ltd (formerly Hiram Walker Foundry) in Walkerville/Windsor.
Known Walkerville-assembled engine in New Zealand # R1248559 for instance has cast # GM 838941 21 CONV-3 with a date code I-11-6 for SEPTEMBER 11 1936. It has a # 838773 Head off a 1939 engine.
Other numbers (possibly Walker Metal Products) are:
1935 [Master]: # 837591/ Head # 837682
1936: # 1782594/ Head # 837682 say
1937: # 1788201/ Head # 838355, with later head # 838773 as a replacement
1938: # 838738/ Head # 838773
1939: # 838941/ Head # 838773
I am very grateful for the other info...adds to the database!
