Some other observations-Has a 1937-40 cylinder head -note head bolt locations on left side of engine,AA engine number is a 1941...the Rochester carb.,spark plug boots (that would not even fit on the original 10 MM plugs) antenna, wheel trim rings and O.S. mirror,no outter stripe on spare wheel, trunk spare tire board missing,???? All the pictures have not down loaded as yet -will find more. But then it is a "one of a kind"

Wow, Great looking car, if you are not looking for accuracy. Would probably do great at local shows. While I am not an expert on 47-48's. These are my observations for several years of study.
I found:
[list] Engine Paint detail - intake manifold -s/b black, exhaust - s/b natural or silver Cig lighter incorrect Choke knob or Throttle are incorrect Dash Board Ash Received should be wood grained Wood Graining not correct. Placement of wood grain on a Fleetmaster should all be grained above the Dashboard Center Chrome
Wiper Blades appear too long Pedal pads ( are repro or replacment ) original the groove continues over the sides. Spot light is not GM Accessory Mirrors we offered in rectangle and round these could be correct (????) Entire underside is black ( undercoat not abailable till 54 as a Chevrolet option ) Fuel tank s/b natural steel I think it is plated to prevent rust 15" not available till 48 as an accessory on Stylemaster and Fleetmaster. (Standard on Fleetline ( I think ) Hood springs natural not painted firewall id Aluminum Natural not painted Wheel trim rings do not appear correct Should be an additional stripe just inside of the wheel trim ring Antenna - aftermarket no insignia on Trunk lid. There was a 47 insignia that carried over to early 48's.
I think you were correct with the Barrett Jackson effect. What prices they were getting.

Wow Gene........a quiz!!! Nothing is as it appears. I caught a few of the items mentioned here by everyone, but certainly not all of them. The first thing I noticed was the odd VIN. Gene, what the heck kind of monitor and eyeballs do you have.......I couldn't see half the engine details you mentioned even after you listed them and I looked again. WOW what an eye you have buddy.....but then you have probably been looking a lot longer than I have. As far as the appraiser goes, you have to remember who he is working for!!! Good reason to hire your own. EDIT: Maybe I'll hire that appraiser and put my Fleetline on ebay......or even send to Barrett-Jackson...

I do believe that if I were the guy that appraised that car I would post several billboards with a disclaimer about this appraisal. Thanks guys for clueing in anyone that wonders over here to this site, that may have had ideas of bidding.
P.S. Ken, the seller posted the VIN on the description part of the car, well it is probably the engine number.
They call me Wacky, but not $70K wacky, I hope! Maybe he made a mistake with the decimal point.
Chevnut, check up on how much memory your computer has, it does make a diference, 128 isn't enough for most of the pictures on the WWW. I added 256 a couple of weeks ago and it is like going from a 26 four cylinder to a 427!

Bidding on a car by a seller's partner, friend is often used on the "show car" auctions to encourage others to bid. This also happens on eBay. or, maybe..... Maybe someone needs to dispose of some cash that is ill-gotten?
....The rules say "Buyer Beware!"
