Hey guys, I have a radio install kit, part # 1219746. My earliest Radio parts catalog is the 1957 issue. It says my kit was removed from service 11-1-54. The knobs make me pretty sure it is for 51-52. Is this correct? It includes a painted plate about 8 or 9 inches long with a hole in each end. I have looked in the Accessories Installation Manuals for 51 and 52 and cannot verify the shapes of any of the braces or the purpose of the painted plate. Can you help me? Thanks.

Mike

It sounds like you may have a radio de-lete plate that was removed from a car when the radio was installed.

It doesn't look like the delete plate pictured in the Parts Catalog illustration of the 51-52 dash. Also it is wrapped in tissue paper to keep it from being scuffed by other parts in the package. Things that make you go HMMMM??

It sounds like a trim plate for the manual tuning radio...no pushbuttons. \:D \:D \:D

Yeah that is it! I have one of each and forgot about the cover for the manual job.

I have Accessory Install Manuals for 51 and 52. The Radio instructions did not help me I.D. any of the pieces.

Thanks Mr Mack and JunkYardDogJunkYardDog. I was hoping some of the radio guys would weigh in. I figured they had some catalogs earlier than mine.
JunkYardDogJunkYardDog, I have the top end only of a 29-32 electrolock. It is a popout and includes the key. I will send it to you if you will email your address to me.

I assume you are talking about the plate as shown in this picture except the one you have does not have the holes for the pushbuttons. If so, you have the finish plate for the non-pushbutton radio. Notice the lable: TRIM PLATE

If the plate is painted a medium-dark gray its for a 1951....if a light gray for a 1952....same plate-different lower dash colors.
