When I picked up my "new" 39 M.D. in Indiana last weekend, the guy gave me a box with a Motorola 300 radio (in an ugly blue color), outside antenna, and the correct Motorola replacement dash plate with tuning knob & station dial indicator for, I assume, the right side of the ash tray.
Where and how would the rest of this monstrosity be mounted under the dash?

Hi RalphL,
As a general rule it is not wise to spend money to restore an after market radio. Cost is approximately the same to do an original Chevrolet radio or an after market.
The exception to the rule is: If your father (insert proper word here) had an after market radio in the family(?) car and you wanted to duplicate that same condition then the after market would be appropriate. (If the vehicle is submitted to be judges it would suffer a deduction).
