I have a Guide spot light [through the windshield post type] it is a reflector type ,not a sealed beam with S-16 0n the bottom, could any body help me identify the year of it? Its newer than my sportlite . Could be from later thirtys , may not be Chevrolet. \:\)

According to the parts book up to 1942 all spot lights were Unity.Starting in 1946 the cars used Guide ( a GM brand ) and the trucks continued with Unity.Sealed beams began in ''49 on cars. There are also some exceptions to this so the use of sealed beams before that may be possible. If the 16 number is stamped on the light housing it identifys the housing only and this fits many cars and years. The lamp you have may not be from a Chev. but may be made to fit as the mounting brackets are what adapted it to the various applications. They also have numbers on them.

Also, the spotlights for 1930-32 had a plate on top of the shell with the Chevrolet bow-tie and the word "Sportlight". Later spotlights had "GM" on the plate instead of the Chevrolet bow-tie. \:D \:D \:D \:D \:D

Yes,in my mind, which I can't always read, I was refering to late 30,s early 40,s lights.I have no idea as to who manufactored the early sport lights. Also back to the early Guide lamps They were all basicly the same for all GM cars except for the brackets I mentioned,The shaft length, and the color and shape of the plastic controll knob.

The 1930-32 "Sportlights" were also made by Unity Manufacturing as well. \:D \:D \:D \:D \:D
