Guys,
I joined this site about this time last year.
Lurked a lot but didn't really find too much of interest to me.Kept going back to the Bolt page.
With the holidays and overtime,I pretty well quit lurking here.
What a great surprise to drift in here tonight and see other people talking about bigger, slower and more fun to drive trucks.
I may not post a lot,BUT,I'll be a dayly watching, learning and laughing a lot lurker.

I have a 50 6400 flatbed that I bought at a auction about a year and a half ago.Real spur of the moment, had to give 165$ for it.It was all there with no rust.Got it home and to my surprise it started, but smoked really bad.Pulled the valve cover and found acorns, paper, insulation and a mouse nest.I then went thru the whole 235 motor.
Right now,it's covered up out side with all the glass out and the doors off.I have all new glass and molding ready to go on,just waiting for warmer weather.
Spanky, is that a nickname?
There's got to be a story behind it.

Don

Hey Don, Yea Spanky is my nickname, but about 90% of the people that know me, don't know me as anything else. I've got relatives that don,t know my real name. My granddaddy penned me with that name when I was an infant, it came of course from the T.V. show (The Little Rascals). I bet you get quizzed with your name sometimes also. Don't you just love these Stovebolt G.M. Trucks, My first was a '51 Chevy 3100 P.U. that my dad gave me when I was 12 Yrs. old (still have it). My first big truck was a '49 Chevy 4400 flatbed that had very very low milage. Ran like a sewing machine. I then got into the '47- '54 G.M. COE trucks, & 55-66 Chevy LCF trucks. At one time I had about 6 of the '47-54 COE's & 4 of the LCF's all at the same time. I sold the LCF's, & am focusing all my attention on the COE's. I have 4 of them presently. 2 chevy's & 2 GMC's, plus a couple of junkers for spare parts. Spanky Hardy.......Collector Of Fine Old G.M. COE Trucks & Antique Holmes Wreckers.

Just got back from an auction today and I nodded a bid once.I have to cut some saplings down to get to it,but I think I can get it loaded.
It's going to cost me ten bucks plus the time and gas and cutting saplings to get it to my place.
What it is , I don't know yet.
Have you ever heard of a VAUXHALL VICTOR SUPER ?
I didn't until I raised my hand for ten bucks today.
I know this is a big truck corner, but if you have any thoughts on what this is,I'll be listening.

If the ground is frosen sunday morning I'm going to try and bring the VAUXHALL home.
Don't tell GRAMPA.

2-Ton, Does your Vauxhall look anything like the '57 model on the modelthavencm website. I've seen one before, a man that used to rent from my grandparents yrs. ago had a Vauxhall wagon. It was a two-tone gray in color. He wasn't driving it at the time, he was using it as a storage unit. Don't know what happened to the man or the car. It looked similar to the one on the modelthaven page.

I got sidetracked today on some other stuff.
Don't know much about my 10$ car I bought yesterday. It's going to have to dry out or freeze out before I can get it out. All I know is it's a 4-door wagon called a vauxhall Victor Wagon Super
Just a side note, They sold a 63 corvair Spyder with the turbo still on the engine,A complete car,
The winning bid was 450$
The Spyder had set for a long time,But no rust to speak of for a 40 year old car.

We had Vauxhalls downunder. They appeared in the mid 1960's and dissappeared not long after. There was the Vauxhall Victor, Vauxhall Veluxe and the Vauxall Veluxe 490 which went like the clappers.

Regards,
Peter

Vauxhalls (British-GM)were imported to the US and sold by Pontiac dealers begining in 1957 or 1958.They were to compete with VW and Renault.Buick sold German Opels also at that time. The Opel stayed around for quite a few years but the Vauxhall disappeared by 1960 (I think) as Pontiac had their Tempest in 1961.Vauxhalls are the GM car in G.B. today and share most parts with the Opel and to a lesser extent the Saturn L series.......Just go to your local Pontiac dealer-he will have all the parts and info.

Peter, Whats a clapper??
Still two inches of mud under one inch of snow.
[YES WE MISSED THE SNOW]
I still don't know what I bought for 10 Bucks,
But, for an old C.E.O. page, this little Vauxhall
whatever it is.Has drawn more attention than I thought it would.
I will find a C.O.E. someday.
In the meantime I'll try to get that little wagon home,If I don't, I'm only out ten bucks.
