I found and made a copy of this photo in my (ex)companies archives several years ago and just came across it again. Thought you fellas would appreciate it! I don't know a whole lot about the early Chevy trucks, but on the back of the photo was written:

"1929 Chevrolet"
"Deluxe Panel Delivery"
1½ ton Series"
"LQ Chassis"

It's cool Bob! I don't know much about them either, maybe someone can post more about this type of truck here for us.

lil' johnny: Thanks for the info. Can't swear this is an "LQ" chassis. The information on the back of the photo was hand written and could very well be incorrect. I kind of fell in love -Bob

Now that you mention it, it does look like a 1/2 ton!

You fellas are getting it right. It is indeed a 1/2 ton AC model. lil johnny hit it on the head with the 6 lug rear wheels and the 107" wheelbase vs the 10 lug rear wheels and 131" wheelbase for the 1 1/2 ton truck. There is also no front bumper which was standard on the larger truck but an accessory on the 1/2 ton. There are other clues too. Can anyone else spot them?

Having once owned a 29 Ton & half, the rear axle had the same 8 lug pattern as 1946 and newer 3/4 & One ton trux. The front of mine had only 4 but could have had 6. My 28 has the same chassis and lug pattern but with wood spoke wheels.
Does any one know who made the panel body in the picture since Chev didn't make any half ton bodies till 1931?

Gene, it would have probably been a big block of ice (with the correct Chevy bowtie imprinted in it) and a lot of sawdust back then, wouldn't it?
I think I better put that picture away. The more I look at it, the more It's growing on me. That's always a dangerous sign !! -Bob

Bob is correct with the big block of ice...I remember our milkman's truck in about 1938.It was a '27 or '28 Chevrolet .There were blocks of ice on top of the milk bottles for cooling. It left a puddle of water when he stopped due to the melting ice.He would let me ride with him for a short distance.I had to stand as there was only a drivers seat.
