I have a 53 3100. I see in a couple of the books that I have it lists tinted glass as an option. Has anybody ever seen a 53 with the factory green tinted glass in it? I was just curious to know.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Yes, it was an option but so few trucks were ordered with options in those days its never seen.I have never seen one either and when I recieved my '53 truck engineering book last week I was surprised that it was even available.

I have seen quite a number of 1953 trucks with tinted glass over the years in the south. The windshield halves have the same blue/green tinted band at the top as do the 1953 passenger cars. I've ran into even more 1953 GMC trucks with the tinted glass. I'm always looking for cabs with the orginal tinted cab corner windows.

I drove a 1953 GMC I think it was a 850 with a 471 Detroit and and chrome grill with tinted glass single axle with a 2 speed rear and full air , a dump truck. I broke a Ws and the replacement had to be special ordered, I never knew if it was original, it was 5 years old with 200k miles when I drove it. I thought I was driving thru some tall cotton!

1953 was the first year that tinted glass was offered as a option on Chevrolet trucks. It was first offered as a option on Chevrolet Passenger cars in 1952 as well as 1952 Pontiacs

Buick, Olds and Cadillac first had the tinted glass option in 1950

Is there an outside sunvisor (as an original option) available for your vehicle? I have one on my '55 pu and I couldn't do without it here + I like the way it looks on the truck.

Downside (?) This might lead you to installing a traffic light viewer in the future on your dash.
