That 37 could serve a few uses, I know some of the movie people would love it, so if someone was looking to rent it, it could be profitable. Could even serve as a cab! I think Chevrolet was out of the Police Car business for awhile, I remember reading somewhere that in late production run in 1955 that Chevrolet was begining to market Police Cars. I think the lack of a V-8 had a lot to with it early on. I am not 100% on it, but pretty sure I read this a few months ago while researching some other stuff at Steve L's liturature collection up in Maine. I am surprised that Chevrolet dropped the V-8 rear wheel platform, I thought that they would be giving that whole market up, not just the vehicle sales but the service end of it also. Oh well another era gone, but I do see that NYC is using that poor excuse of a an Impala now, I just don't see it as a highway cruiser, might be fine in a city. John

John I do agree with you about the absence of a rear drive GM auto, that is why we drive Tahoes and Surbs here so much in Texas, however I do know some friends with a new Impala that believe it is a fine auto, but they traded in a rice rocket for the Impala, that tell you something?

I know we are getting off the subject, but my problem with this "new Impala" is that it just is not an Impala! If they called it a Nova, or a Chevelle, I could go with it, but the Impala is supposed to be big, I can even accept the 6 cylinder. I also can't deal with the Monte SS for the front wheel drive factor. I looked into buying one of these Impalas, it was just too small for a family of 5, I also found it a little expensive for what it was considering the Buick LeSabre was alot more car for less money. I went in to buy a Lesabre and ended up spending double and bought the Yukon. Sorry I got off the subject, anyway why was that 37 painted those colors? John

Here in Florida they are using some of the last Camaros as highway patrol cars on the interstate, they do look cool (as long as they aren't behind you w/lights on).
