Yes, unfortunately the world is not a friendly place anymore... personal identity theft is a
huge crime that is almost out of control.
Personal privacy is almost a thing of the past... and all because of the web!!
(ha ha.. just kidding - about the web part)But in reality, the web (actually the internet) has helped contribute to the ease of how some people can abuse friendship and cordiality with people that they don't know.
This is a car discussion board, and I don't want to stray too far off track, but my advice is to always find out something about the other person before you give out information about yourself - including your phone number. Getting their email address is a good first step to knowing a minimum amount about them. It still falls short of identifying their creditability, however.
Buyer beware? More like, everybody beware! There's a lot of crazies out there anymore looking for a way to make a fast buck.
