I was told at a car show that the oval base ones were used by Olds in this era?? I have a Trico mirror with this base. If there is a market, I could let you use the base for a pattern. I believe, Don Rumbaugh cast the chevy style several years ago but did not have the racheting w/s.s. strap setup but used a leather straps. Does anyone have a present source for the s.s. strap banding? Vintque, who makes repro parts for Fords in this era, has a mirror head that is very close to the Trico one. Same size with stem out the back for mounting like originals. Keep me posted-I would be interested in a pair.

Bruce, The casting looks real good. Sorry don't have a source for SS rivets. You will need a STRONG press to set them. I have used SS tubular rivets in the past and they seem to be 10x more difficult to get set than mild steel ones. I will try to track some down if you get me the dimensions you are looking for. Have you considered cutting them from SS rod?

About the mold release material, you may find a suitable agent from a good gunsmith supply company like Brownells, I don't have their address but they advertise in the National Rifleman and other gun hobby magazines, Also they have a good material for casting molds ,it is an epoxy material used to bed rifle actions into the stock and is called Accraglass they have various size kits and it conforms exactly to the pattern piece, even to the proof marks and machine marks on the piece.

Mcmaster-Carr Supply at http://www.mcmaster.com has about anything you might need in the way of rivets, or anything else you can think of. Also did you get permission from Trico to use their name? GM Ford and others are getting touchy about using a trademarked name, part# etc.
