1930SportCoupe,

Sorry to hear about your "30% not what you like" at The Filling Station. I've always been very pleased when dealing with them. The one time that didn't seem so good got straightened out to my completele satisfaction when I phoned them and discussed the matter.

Bill.

I have done business with the filling station for years and as now, This Is the first time I have heard anything wrong with the service they give their customers. Steve Kassis the owner runs a great chevrolet business and I think that a phone call to him personally about whatever problems you have had, That Steve would handle the sitsuation Imediately, And hopefully clear up any problems you have had with his company. Good Luck

I have also done business with the Filling Station for several years and have found their customer service to be excellent. As with any company dealing with a lot of items that are reproduction(sometimes offshore) not all items may be exactly what we expect. I have returned items and have never had a problem -they even credited the freight and did not charge a handling fee.I agree with the above post that a phone call will clear up any problems.

If you can find a better company to deal with please let me know. I have purchased parts from the Filling Station for over 20 years. Steve and Jerry Kassis, owners, will try their best to make sure you are satisfied. As stated in prior post expectations are not always met. When that happens calling and talking to whom ever answers the phone will nearly always resolve the issue if not ask to talk to Steve or Jerry. Actually they hope that people with problems bring them to their attention. That way they can make the changes necessary to eliminate the problem in the future.

I recently replaced the spring and shackle bushings in a '28 Chevy chassis. Bought a set of bushings and pin bolts from the Filling Station. When I tried to install the bushings in the frame horns they did not fit. Called and talked to Steve. He had been selling the bushing kits for many many years without a complaint. Neither of us could understand why no one complained before. I found the bushings needed at a bearing supplier and informed both the Filling Station and Gary Wallace (who even though he owns a '28 did not know of the difference in the spring and frame horn bushings. Guess he never had to change his.) They now have the correct bushings available. Just one story of how a complaint helped to get things right.

when it comes to parts for our two old chevys(29 and 31), i rank the filling station in same catagory as Corvette Central and Paragon for the old corvettes and Fusick for the old oldsmobiles and Chevys of the 40's for our old Woddie. never had a problem with their parts. mike

I do not believe for one second that the Filling Station Is getting worse and worse. Maybe you should talk to Steve Instead of your wife and Iron things out. I do not believe that This chat site Is a place to undermine someone and their business for a small Incident that may or maybe not happened. Steve at the filling station will bend over backwards If there Is something that the customer has a problem with, If there Is one.
You are barking up the wrong tree If you think the filling station Is getting worse and worse. My two cents worth about cutting a company down about one problem.

I just telephoned Gary Wallace who is listed on the internet. I thought he might have a front apron for the 31 but no he does not.
Said he has more business than he can handle. Started out as a hobby.
Very social type of guy!

Hello All,
Steve from The Filling Station here. As usual, there are two sides to the story.....here's mine. A few months ago, this customer had a problem with one of our suppliers over a damaged package sent directly from that supplier to him. Our supplier was rude to him on the phone, so, of course, we are the bad guy. We never even billed this gentleman for that order.

He has placed a few orders online since that time, using a debit card. Saturday, while I was not in the office, he called to cancel an order he placed online. He was confused as to the process we use for authorizing credit/debit cards. He sent an email expressing his concern and asking that someone explain it to him. On Monday, I emailed and called him, asking that he call me back. He called me back and I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with him explaining our system to him. When we hung up, I felt I had completely satisfied his concerns. I assured him I would process a refund for the charges that went through on Saturday. I credited him back immediately after our phone conversation.

Later that day his wife called, with a definite attitude, asking about the refund. I told her that I had processed the refund several hours back. I asked her if she had talked to her husband because I had explained everything to him already. I, again, assured her that the refund was processed and we finished our conversation and I thought that was the end of it. Until today, a few hours ago, when she called back again.

This time with a much larger attitude. This time she demanded to know why the credit had not shown up in her account yet. I tried to explain that I had processed the credit yesterday and electronic credits are not always posted immediately. Once we have processed a credit, it is out of our hands. Our bank and their bank both take time to process - it doesn't happen immediately. She didn't like my explanation of the process. Her next comments were tantamount to calling me a liar and that she would check her account the next day and if the credit wasn't there, she was going to take action.

We have been in business 26 years and have served over 40,000 customers worldwide. We don't stay in business that long by cheating our customers. I don't need anyone calling me a liar and I wasn't getting through to her, so I hung up.

If her husband had just called, I could have sent him a fax showing the credit to their account, posted on November 28th. Apparently he was too busy writing in this column. The sad thing is that this is all over a charge of $57.00.

Thank you to all those that wrote positive comments in this thread. I really appreciate your support.
Steve

When I have called about an order, I have always been treated with respect and professionalism. Keep up the good work!

Steve,

The wife part of the story reminds me of the old line about 'somebody pis*ing in somebody else's ear.'

Seem like the guy should be up to handling his own biz, rather than sicking the wife on you!

I tried to hide behind my mother's apron once when I was a kid. She swacked me up along side the ear and said get out there and take care of it yourself. Your "customer" apparently never had that experience!!

Anyway, ole buddy, thanks for the explanation. Even tho it's quite obvious from all the "testimonails" that you're basically preaching to the choir.

It's nice to know you check up on this place, even tho you don't have much time to 'post.'

Keep up the good work!!!!

"We" all love The Filling Station!!!

Bill.

...Once upon a time I ordered some parts for a Rochester "B" carb from the filling station one side of the float was partially collapsed, everything else was fine, since I was in a hurry I drilled a 1/32" hole in it aired it out and soldered the hole back up, and went on about my business. that is the sum total problem I have had with any of their products. I never called them, but I figure if I had there would have been a replacement on the way.

I really have had good luck with most of the vendors I have dealt with in the hobby, The Filling Station, Wallace Wade, Gary Wallace, American Classic Truck Parts, Obsolute Chevy Parts, Carter, Greenwood Chevrolet, Chevys of the Fortys, Impala Bob's, Superior Chrome, Economy Chrome and several others I even am satisfied with J.C. Whitney and Harbor Freight. Maybe I am just easy....

....Well I have been bitten a couple of times on ebay but when you roll the dice....
I have tried to stay away from those I have heard about here that seem to have more problems than others.

FS replaced a radiator core I bought from them that was 1/4" too long after I'd had it new and unused on the shelf for 5 or 6 years. Steve had another core shipped directly to me from the supplier. I think their service is the best.

Thanks for all the kind and the sarcastic remarks. If this world was perfect and everyone in it was too, we would be bored out of our minds.

This has become a "p$ssing contest" and I am not equipped for it.

I consider this thread closed along with my forum account.

Can't say that he will be missed on the forum.

If he is a member of the VCCA he has hidden that fact from us.

He has elected not to give his city along with the state.

He elects not to show his email address.

He was a member of the forum since Dec 16, 2003. In almost 2 years he should know how the wind blows.

Failure to list information in his profile is permitted, however the omission of so much information is cause for wonder.

His running away also weakens his case.

Deleting his prior posts on this thread are also reason for concern.

1930SportCoupe,

I know some of these posts have been pretty hard on you and I am sorry.

You seem to be totally sincere in your feelings but on this site you took a poke at the sacred-cow.

Don't let them run you off stay and DUKE it out.

Some will still hate you but at least they will respect you.

I'm not going to call 1930 sportcoupe a 'sore head' or any such thing. But I think my post, which was the very first one after his original post, gave him all he needed.

Quote:
1930SportCoupe,

Sorry to hear about your "30% not what you like" at The Filling Station. I've always been very pleased when dealing with them. The one time that didn't seem so good got straightened out to my completele satisfaction when I phoned them and discussed the matter.

I expressed sympathy with his problem. I gave the FS a 'testimonial.' And then suggested when I had a 'problem' I called them.

Subsequently many others gave The FS 'testimonials' and/or suggested he contact them.

I sure don't see any 'p$ssing contest' in any of that.

Gotta be careful when you have a chip on your shoulder. Doesn't always lead to rational thinking.

Bill.

I'm sorry that we have lost a person who loves old Chevys the way the rest of us do.

We should try and help each other always...IMHO.

Maybe after the dust has settled and things have calmed down the people who are involved will resolve the issue.

Could we have handled this better???

Well Gang, I guess we just go on from here and enjoy our love for chevrolets and what the VCCA stands for and all the good people who are on the chat site. I learned one thing from this thread and that Is, Never will I have my wife call and try to handle problems of mine. Especially about my cars. I guess as a man I will stand up for my own problems and never will hide behind her back as she tries to clear up any car related problem I may have. To edit a post that was posted In this thread, Is just one more thing that really erks me, You printed It, You meant what you said, Leave It alone. Just like using the wife to handle the problem, Then having to back off what the original post said, We will all go forward and just maybe you will still be on the chat site and let the past fade away. You are still a Chevy guy.

Steve from The Filling Station here again. I just wanted to thank you all once again for the overwhelming support. I agree with Gator - some of the comments toward him were a little harsh. But I also feel that this was not the place to "air the dirty laundry". That said, I do appreciate that he retracted some of comments. Like Don says, let's move on and enjoy our old Chevys!
Thanks,

Don, I would hope you knew better than have your wife fight your battles before now. We do not know why 1930 SportCoupe's wife got involved, but I do know this thread was very offense and leveled personal attacks against a fellow member. I didn't realize The Filling Station was a sacred cow, always thought of them as a vendor. Have bought from them without problem, but same can be said for other vendors who get little respect on this site. Anyway, I think this thread should have been closed after the first few comments. As a moderator, you failed.

Concoach, you have some goods points, but since this has happened maybe all of us can use it as a learning experience.

Since we don't see each other face to face and can't hear the tone of our voice and facial expressions sometimes the written word can be taken in a way it was not intended.

To paraphrase an old expression of "it’s not what you say but how you say it" sort of applies in reverse. People can take insult when the writer didn't intend it that way.

Steve is right and I hope they work out their issue so all of us can get back to the serious stuff...working on restoring Chevys.

IMHO

PS...Remember if you do happen to ever have a problem with someone else on Chatter you can always use the person to person link to work it out in private, just my very humble opinion, hope I haven't offended anyone...

For me at this time of my life, like I always tell my wife and kids and grandkids, etc all I want is some "peace and quiet"...no conflicts, no hassles (been there, done that).
